Creative Interior & Decor had been transforming homes and offices across East Delhi and the NCR for years – delivering complete turnkey interiors with 3D previews, quality execution, and hands-on supervision from concept to handover. Their portfolio was strong and their client satisfaction record solid. But in a market where Livspace, DesignCafe, and HomeLane were spending crores on performance marketing, Creative Interior was competing for the same clients with a website that barely ranked for a single design keyword in Delhi.
The Challenge
Interior design is a high-consideration, high-ticket purchase. A family planning a full home interior in East Delhi may spend ₹5–₹25 lakhs and will research extensively – looking at portfolios, comparing firms, reading about specific room types – before making a single enquiry. Creative Interior’s challenges were structural:
- No room-specific or service-specific pages – their website described their work generally with no dedicated pages for modular kitchen design, bedroom interiors, living room design, false ceiling work, office interiors, or turnkey execution – the exact terms Delhi homeowners search when planning specific spaces
- Invisible against platform giants – Livspace, DesignCafe, and HomeLane dominated every generic “interior designer Delhi” search with massive domain authority and ad budgets, but their hyperlocal presence – “interior designer Mayur Vihar,” “modular kitchen Preet Vihar” – was far weaker, creating a clear opportunity for a local specialist to outrank them on locality-level searches
- Portfolio not optimised for search – Creative Interior had completed dozens of impressive residential and commercial projects, but their work existed only as photos on the website with no descriptive text, project details, or location signals that Google could index and rank
The diagnosis: A capable, experienced interior design firm losing high-value project enquiries to platform aggregators on broad searches and to competitors on local ones – not because of inferior work, but because their digital presence gave Google nothing specific to rank.
What We Did
Interior design SEO is won at two levels simultaneously: room-type specificity and locality depth. We built Creative Interior’s strategy to dominate both across East Delhi and the wider NCR.
Phase 1: Room & Service Page Architecture (Month 1–2)
We built dedicated, fully optimised pages for every service Creative Interior offers – modular kitchen design, bedroom interiors, living room and TV unit design, false ceiling and lighting design, wardrobe and storage solutions, office interior design, commercial interiors for retail and restaurants, and complete turnkey home interiors. Each page described the design approach, showcased completed projects for that room type, addressed the specific questions Delhi homeowners ask at that stage — “what does a modular kitchen cost in Delhi,” “how long does a full home interior take,” “what is included in a turnkey interior package” – and carried a prominent WhatsApp enquiry CTA. Pages that didn’t exist six months ago now collectively drive the majority of the site’s enquiry volume.
Phase 2: East Delhi & NCR Locality Pages (Month 2–4)
We built geo-targeted landing pages for every key area in Creative Interior’s service zone – Mayur Vihar, Preet Vihar, Vasundhara Enclave, Laxmi Nagar, Patparganj, IP Extension, Vivek Vihar, Shahdara, Noida Sector 62, and Indirapuram. Each page combined locality-specific references with Creative Interior’s design approach, addressed practical concerns like parking for consultations, and targeted the exact locality-plus-service searches Delhi homeowners use – “interior designer Mayur Vihar,” “modular kitchen Indirapuram,” “home interior contractor Noida.” Ten locality pages. Ten new ranking positions in markets where Livspace’s generic Delhi page couldn’t compete at the suburb level.
Phase 3: SEO-Optimised Project Portfolio (Month 2–5)
We transformed Creative Interior’s completed project photos into rankable portfolio pages – each one describing the brief, the design solution, the materials used, the locality, and the outcome. A 3BHK full home interior in Mayur Vihar Phase 3. A modular kitchen with island counter in Vasundhara Enclave. A law firm office interior in Laxmi Nagar. These project pages served two purposes simultaneously: they gave prospective clients the social proof they needed to enquire, and they gave Google the specific, location-tagged content it needed to rank Creative Interior for project-type and locality combination searches.
Phase 4: Competitor Displacement Content (Month 3–7)
Livspace and DesignCafe dominate generic interior design searches – but they have an exploitable weakness. Their content is national and generic, not locally specific. We built a content cluster around comparisons and local buying guides: “interior designer vs Livspace — which is better for Delhi homes,” “how to choose an interior designer in East Delhi,” “cost of full home interior in Delhi 2024,” “modular kitchen price in Delhi with installation.” This content captured homeowners already in the research phase, comparing options, and positioned Creative Interior as the locally expert, personally accountable alternative to a platform-managed designer.
Phase 5: Google Business Profile & Reviews (Month 2–3)
Creative Interior’s GBP was sparse – few photos, minimal services listed, and only 19 reviews. We rebuilt it completely: added 14 service categories, uploaded 80+ project photos organised by room type, populated the Q&A section with 25 pre-answered questions covering pricing, timelines, and process, and launched a post-handover WhatsApp review request. Reviews grew from 19 to 107 over eight months with an average rating of 4.9. They now appear in the Google 3-pack for interior design searches across five East Delhi localities.
Results
Ten months in, Creative Interior & Decor is handling more enquiries than at any point in their history, with a notably higher proportion of high-ticket full home interior and turnkey projects — the segment where their expertise and personal supervision model is the clearest differentiator against platform-managed alternatives.
- 21x Organic traffic (180 → 3,800 monthly sessions)
- +230% Design project enquiries per month
- #1 “Interior Designer East Delhi” & “Modular Kitchen Delhi”
- 107 Google reviews (up from 19)
- 5 localities Appearing in Google 3-pack across East Delhi
- +180% High-ticket turnkey project enquiries (₹10L+)
Their modular kitchen page now ranks #1 in East Delhi and drives 640 monthly sessions – consistently their highest-converting page because kitchen projects have the clearest scope, the most specific search intent, and the fastest decision-to-enquiry cycle of any interior design service.
Key Takeaways
- Room-specific pages are where interior design SEO is won. Nobody searches “interior designer Delhi” when they know they need a modular kitchen. They search “modular kitchen design Delhi” or “kitchen interior contractor East Delhi.” Pages built around specific room types rank for specific searches and attract clients who already know what they want – the highest-quality enquiries in the business.
- Platform giants have a hyperlocal blind spot. Livspace and HomeLane rank for “interior designer Delhi.” They cannot rank for “interior designer Mayur Vihar” or “home interior Vasundhara Enclave” with the same authority as a locally rooted firm with dedicated locality pages. This is the independent designer’s primary competitive moat in SEO.
- Project portfolio pages are the most underused SEO asset in interior design. Every completed project is a rankable piece of content – a locality, a room type, a design style, a budget range. Firms that describe their work in detail and tag it with location information create a compounding bank of search-visible proof that generic portfolio galleries never achieve.
- Comparison content captures the decision-stage buyer. A homeowner searching “Livspace vs local interior designer Delhi” has a budget, a brief, and is 2–3 weeks from signing a contract. Content that answers this comparison honestly – and positions the personal accountability of a boutique firm against the managed process of a platform — converts at an exceptionally high rate.
- High-ticket service SEO rewards patience. Interior design projects have a longer consideration cycle than most local services – clients research for weeks before enquiring. The traffic and content investments made in month 2 began converting meaningfully by month 5. Firms that measure SEO success at 90 days will exit before the most valuable conversions arrive.
We were doing great work but losing project enquiries to Livspace and DesignCafe every day - clients who would have been a much better fit with us never found us. The SEO Doctors built the digital presence our work deserved. We now rank above the platforms for East Delhi searches, our modular kitchen page alone brings in more qualified leads than we used to get in a month, and the clients coming through organic search are serious, high-budget homeowners who want the personalised approach we offer. It has completely changed how we acquire clients.
