Fresh Start Law Center had been helping Las Vegas residents escape crippling debt for over a decade. Their attorneys were compassionate, experienced, and highly rated by past clients. But the people who needed them most – families drowning in medical bills, small business owners wiped out by the pandemic, individuals facing wage garnishment – couldn’t find them online. They were invisible at precisely the moment people were ready to act.
The Challenge
Bankruptcy law has a unique SEO dynamic: clients are financially distressed, meaning they research extensively before spending money on legal fees – and they search for very specific answers before they search for a lawyer. Fresh Start faced three core obstacles:
- No chapter-specific content — their site had a single bankruptcy page that mentioned Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 in passing, with no dedicated content explaining the differences, eligibility, or outcomes – the information every prospective client searches for before calling
- Competing against national debt relief aggregators – sites like LendingTree, NerdWallet, and FindLaw were dominating their most valuable keywords, capturing leads and selling them to multiple competing firms simultaneously
- No presence outside downtown Las Vegas – Henderson, North Las Vegas, Summerlin, and Spring Valley represented a significant share of Clark County’s population but were entirely absent from Fresh Start’s digital footprint
The diagnosis: A firm losing clients to aggregators who were monetising the exact search intent Fresh Start should have been owning directly. Every lead sold by FindLaw was a client who could have called Fresh Start for free.
What We Did
We built Fresh Start’s organic strategy around three truths about bankruptcy clients: they research deeply, they search locally, and they need reassurance before they’ll pick up the phone.
Phase 1: Chapter-Specific Page Architecture (Month 1–2)
We built comprehensive, authoritative pages for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, Chapter 13 bankruptcy, business bankruptcy, and debt consolidation alternatives. Each page answered the exact questions clients search before hiring – “will I lose my house in Chapter 7 Nevada,” “how long does Chapter 13 take,” “can I keep my car if I file bankruptcy” – with accurate, Nevada-specific legal information that established Fresh Start as the knowledgeable, trustworthy option on the page.
Phase 2: Aggregator Displacement Strategy (Month 2–5)
Beating LendingTree and NerdWallet requires content depth and local specificity they cannot match. We built a comprehensive Nevada bankruptcy guide, a means test calculator explainer for Nevada income limits, and a court-specific page covering the Nevada Bankruptcy Court in Las Vegas – content that only a local firm could produce authentically and that national aggregators publish only in generic form.
Phase 3: Clark County Geo-Targeting (Month 3–6)
We built dedicated landing pages for Henderson, North Las Vegas, Summerlin, Spring Valley, Boulder City, and Pahrump. Each page addressed the specific financial pressures common in that community – gaming industry job losses, construction sector volatility, small business closures – giving the content genuine local relevance rather than just swapped city names.
Phase 4: FAQ & Reassurance Content Hub (Month 4–8)
Bankruptcy clients are anxious. We built a 60-article FAQ hub addressing every fear and misconception – “will bankruptcy ruin my credit forever,” “can my employer find out I filed bankruptcy,” “what happens to my retirement accounts.” This content not only ranked for hundreds of long-tail keywords but dramatically improved the quality of consultations because clients arrived already informed and emotionally ready to proceed.
Phase 5: GBP & Trust Signal Optimisation (Month 5–9)
We rebuilt Fresh Start’s Google Business Profile, launched a structured post-case review programme, and added schema markup for LegalService, Attorney, and FAQPage across the site. Review count grew from 29 to 143 over nine months. They now appear in the local 3-pack across six Clark County communities.
Results
Nine months in, Fresh Start Law Center fields more consultation requests in a week than they previously handled in a month. They’ve hired two additional paralegals to manage case volume and expanded their office hours to accommodate demand.
- 21x Organic traffic (490 → 10,300 monthly sessions)
- +260% Inbound consultation requests per month
- #1 Bankruptcy Attorney Las Vegas
- 143 Google reviews (up from 29)
- 6 areas Appearing in Google 3-pack across Clark County
- $0 Paid to aggregators for leads (was $2,800/mo)
Their Chapter 7 bankruptcy page now ranks #1 in Las Vegas and drives 1,400 monthly sessions – directly replacing the aggregator leads they’d previously paid $2,800/month to receive.
Key Takeaways
- Chapter-specific pages are non-negotiable. Every bankruptcy client wants to know exactly what Chapter applies to them and what happens to their specific assets. A single “bankruptcy” page cannot rank for the dozens of specific searches that drive real consultations.
- Aggregators are beatable with local depth. LendingTree can’t write about Nevada’s means test thresholds or the specific Las Vegas bankruptcy court. Local firms that go deeper on local specifics will always outrank generic national content for local searches.
- Reassurance content drives conversions, not just traffic. Pages that answer “will my employer find out” and “can I keep my house” don’t just rank – they remove the emotional barriers stopping distressed clients from picking up the phone.
- Suburb pages unlock untapped demand. Henderson and North Las Vegas residents search for local bankruptcy lawyers just as frequently as those in central Las Vegas – but face far less competition for those keywords.
- Stopping aggregator payments compounds the ROI. Eliminating $2,800/month in lead fees while tripling inbound volume means the effective return on their SEO investment was dramatically higher than the traffic numbers alone suggest.
Our clients are going through one of the hardest moments of their lives. We wanted to be the firm they found when they searched for help - not some lead aggregator that would sell their information to five competing firms. The SEO Doctors made that happen. We're now the top result in Las Vegas for our most important keywords and we've cut our dependence on paid leads entirely.
